OUR HISTORY

 THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH OF JESUS, INC. is the continuation of the Great Revival that began at Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost, A.D. 33.

 

THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH OF JESUS, INC. is  is founded upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ, Himself being the Chief Cornerstone. Acts 2: versus 1 thru 2; Eph. 2: versus19 and 20. Although the true followers have been little known, yet from that time until now, there have always been earnest contenders for the "faith which was once delivered unto the saints."

THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH OF JESUS, INC. is an Apostolic Church that the Lord Jesus Christ purchased with his own blood. It’s a church in which the word of God is preached, ordinances are administered and the doctrine of the Oneness of God! The Baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ, and the receiving of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in another tongue as the Spirit of the Lord gives utterance are emphasized, as being essential to the salvation of mankind.

THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH OF JESUS, INC. is commonly known as Apostolics, Jesus only or Oneness Pentecostal in nature because of the importance ascribed to the events which occurred on the Day of Pentecost, the 50th day after the Passover, or Easter as being necessary for all believers in Christ Jesus to experience.

On the Day of Pentecost, the first day of the week, the Lord's Day, Supernatural Manifestations descended in marvelous copiousness and power. The gift of the spirit in the fulfillment of the promise of Jesus to clothe those who would wait in Jerusalem with power from on high, was accompanied by three supernatural extraordinary manifestations.

The sudden appearance of the Holy Ghost appealed first to the ear. The disciples heard a "sound" from heaven which rushed with a mighty force into the house and filled it even as a storm rushes but there was no wind. It was the sound that filled the house and not a wind, an invisible cause producing audible effects.

Next, the eye was arrested by the appearance of tongues of fire which rested on each individual accompanied. Finally, there was the impartation of a new strange power to speak in languages they had never learned "as the Spirit gave them Utterance."

So great was the awakening, that in a few years in nearly every town of any size there were witnesses to the Pentecostal outpouring of the Spirit, Luke 24: versus 28; Acts 1: versus 8; Acts 2: versus 4.

 

In the year 1939 that awakening hit the state of Florida, County of Highland, and the City of Avon Park, Florida through a young man by the name of Elder Harry Johnson the Lord work mightily through this man! It was in the month of December on the 23 day of our Lord The Apostolic Church of Jesus, Inc. was born. After five Presiding Bishops, The Founder and General Overseer, Bishop Harry Johnson, Bishop John H. Lee, Bishop James Mimes, Bishop Joe T. Wimes and Presently, Bishop Gregory Johnson the church is soaring to higher heights and deeper depths in the Lord. The Apostolic church of Jesus Headquarters moved to Altamonte Springs Florida in the year 2005 and after almost 70 years later we are still here praising the Lord and earnestly contending for the faith!
